Oral history interview with Wilford and Mattie Pierce, 1986 February 7.

Interview with Wilford and Mattie Pierce concerning their experiences as owners and operators of Pierce's in Denton, Texas. Wilford discusses his family background, his experiences working at Evers Hardware, the effects of the Depression in Denton, and the businesses on Denton Square in the 1920s. Mattie discusses her family background, farming near Blum, Texas, and her experiences at Texas Woman's University. They both talk about the establishment of their greeting card and gift business in Denton in 1945, their expansion into hunting and fishing inventory, their experiences with customers purchasing firearms, the repair business, the sale of the business in 1977, the volume of sales, their views of the husband-wife business relationship, and personnel.
